Early Life & Background
Crystal Renee Hayslett was born and raised in Martin, Tennessee on October 18, 1982. She attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications/Public Relations. After her graduation, Crystal moved to Washington, D.C., to serve in the United States Senate.
However, Crystal had always wanted to become an actress so in order to fulfill this dream of hers, she made the decision to relocate to Atlanta.
The following year, she was given her first speaking role in the short film “This Time,” directed by Oscar Award Winner Matthew Cherry. She also had the opportunity to appear on BET’s “The Game” and “Stomp The Yard 2”.
Crystal joined Tyler Perry Studios’ Costume Department in 2013. Her dedication and hard work paid off when she was promoted to the studio’s Costume Designer in 2015.
This role also included being a personal stylist for Tyler Perry. Her career took another leap forward when she started consulting producing and guest starring in Perry’s new hit show, Sistas.
As the show announced its second season, Crystal became a regular on the series.
