Maria Zhang also known as Zhang Zhiyi was born in Poland on August 8, 1999. Her mom is from Poland, and her dad is from China. Furthermore, Zhang’s mom is an oil restoration artist while her dad is a sculptor.

A year after Zhang’s birth her parents relocated to Beijing where she spent her early years. However, as a child, she loved spending summers in Poland with her grandparents, and she learned to speak Chinese, Polish, and English.

When she was 12, during a visit to Poland, Zhang and her sister found an ad for auditions for a theater group. This unexpected discovery sparked her love for acting and started her amazing journey.

As she pursued her dreams, Zhang moved to Southern California for college at the University of Southern California (USC). Her parents, who were talented artists themselves, played a big role in shaping her creative and diverse upbringing.

Maria Zhang started acting in 2018 in a short film called “Continuum.” She played a character named Dayna Hu, and she was known as Marysia Zhang back then. This was her first step into acting.
