		<description>I also wish the DVD had included more shorts, as it contains clips of films I wish I could see in their entirety. (Are there some distribution issues involved here? Do some of these films not work well in transfer?) Menken deserves a full length collection and commentary treatment.</description>

		<description>Menken really is an important figure to the avant-garde, and Kudlacek&#039;s documentary does a fantastic job of dealing with her legacy and aesthetics. It&#039;s a great way of approaching and understanding Menken&#039;s art. Unfortunately, the Icarus DVD leaves out one of the four short films that appeared as extras on the Austrian DVD of Kudlacek&#039;s documentary. *Lights*, which is glimpsed in that filmstrip image above, is one of Menken&#039;s finest works, an utterly beautiful, magical, mostly abstract film in which she extracts the most astonishing effects from simple images of Christmas lights.</description>
