It's a great way of approaching and understanding Menken's art. Unfortunately, the Icarus DVD leaves out one of the four short films that appeared as extras on the Austrian DVD of Kudlacek's documentary. *Lights*, which is glimpsed in that filmstrip image above, is one of Menken's finest works, an utterly beautiful, magical, mostly abstract film in which she extracts the most astonishing effects from simple images of Christmas lights.
